Lo and behold, Finland's beloved  'Love Metallers' sprang a welcome surprise on both concert-goers and all their fans as they unveiled their new drummer, Jukka 'Kosmo' Kroger,  at their Qstock festival gig in Oulu, Suomi.  The show was originally billed as a Rambo Rimbaud gig - band frontman's solo project.  Kroeger also plays guitar, and in several other bands as you can see from his entry here on Encyclopedia Metallum/The Metal Archives.

Congratulations are in order to Morgan Ryder and Canada's own VESPERIA, all 'Risen Victorious' ;-), having been crowned the 2015 International Final Champions of the Wacken Metal Battle! You know you rule. They join Crimson Shadows, who were the 1st Canadian band to win the annual Wacken International prize back in 2013.  Very honoured to have played both bands' music on the show back before they were known outside the Canadian metal scene.  \w/

This week we have for you:
In Hour 1, mixed metal madness, in Hour 2, a grab bag of gothy goodness and in Hour 3, we feature HIM's very underrated 3rd studio album "Deep Shadows & Brilliant Highlights": romantic goth rock at its finest.
Hour 4 features Toronto goth geniuses Double Eyelid and their multi-genre-inflected debut full-length tour de force, "Seven Years".  And Hour 5, mixed music leaning to the dark end of the pool.
In other news despite best efforts and the announcement at the top of hour 1,  due to technical difficulties of a USB 3 nature we were sadly unable to play for you any Victor Love, Luis Drayton, & Huaska this week.

But next week we are coming into the studio armed with a burnt CD in the event the station's internet problems have not been solved by then.

The show this week features music from Sweden and the small but mighty Faroe Islands!

Sweden's doom masters Katatonia have just released a brand new live album, Sanctitude (also available as a Blue-Ray disc). And we have it for you, courtesy of Our Dearest Lady Death, in hour 3! 

Then in hour 4: this week's Helsinki Spotlight Artists are goth metallers Sinners Moon, who are actually technically Slovakian (!) but since they are signed to Finnish label, Inverse Records, which IS based in Helsinki, we are giving them a free pass. ;-)  This week's ReverbNation Band of the Week are Danish stoner rock/metal band, Fusskalt. 

Hour 1 is a pastiche of favorite bands, ranging from Opeth to In Flames. Hour 2, e.V. digs through the vaults to find some cool older goth rock tuneage!

Then in hour 5:  we have a new (to us) Faroese artist.  Very excited to introduce to you the "psychedelic gospel pop" of Knút, (full name: Knút Háberg Eysturstein, say that 5 times fast :P) and his album, "On High".  Our producer found him whilest she searched Twitter for hashtags to do with places where the solar eclipse was total.   :)

So it is with lots of love but alsoa heavy heart that we announce next week will be the "We <3 Mika K" show: Because Finland's HIM is losing their longtime drummer Mika Karppinen (aka Gas Lipstick), we will be playing a boatload of HIM tracks scattered through all 5 hours of the coming show. This is also the week of his birthday. We can think of no better way to say thank you than to share HIM's music.  The very best luck to Gas in his all his new musical endeavors! [Read Gas' farewell note here.]
